John 9:1-3 (Part 2)

Standard

John 9:1-3  As Jesus passed by He saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “Neither him nor his parents sinned; it is so that the works of God might be made visible through him.”

This post I will concentrate on the last part of the scripture passage “… so that the works of God might be made visible through him.”

After Jesus said this He healed the blind man “so that the works of God might be made visible through him.” In this case I believe that Jesus showed us that miracles are signs that demonstrate God’s power, mercy and love. This also demonstrates that God can be seen in our sufferings. In the time of Jesus many thought that having an infirmity, such as blindness or any other physical disability, was a punishment for some personal sin. What Jesus said shattered what many thought. I even thought that I was being punished until I heard this scripture passage.

God works through all of us, through any situation or through the good and the bad times. Usually when God works through what I just mentioned, we are not expecting it or when we experience it we do not realize it at the time but only later do we see it. God never ceases to amaze me and its incredible how inept our understanding is of God’s works.
